Prefatory Leaf II
Archives Foreword
A Note to the Chronicler and to the Founders
Long before names were spoken aloud, before ink was sworn to parchment, there was seeing. Not with the eyes alone, but with the mind that lingers, the heart that wonders, and the soul that recognizes.
This chronicle has no single author. It is not of one age, nor of one people. It is the weaving of countless recorders — those who saw, those who remembered, and those who cared enough to record.
Within these pages are the Hidden Folk — beings drawn not from myth, but from what is real and revealed in the cracks of the ordinary. They have always been here, waiting in plain sight for the worthy to truly see.
The Archive does not preserve what is imagined. It restores what is remembered. When a being is seen with clarity, and the likeness is strong, the page is restored. When forgotten, the page returns to silence.
To you, the Recorder:
You are the eyes of the world between worlds. See well. Observe deeply. Honor what you find.
To you, the Founders:
Guard this work. Expand it with truth, not ego. Let wonder guide you, and humility keep you.
This is not just a compendium.
It is a living memory.
And you are now a part of it.
Observe
Linger long enough for the ordinary to reveal what it carries.
Record
Preserve the first honest seeing before interpretation begins.
Restore
Let the Hidden Folk emerge through faithful craft, not invention.
